History of doves

The dove is a peace symbol among many cultures and beliefs.  Legend
from these cultures shows the dove representing peace and honor.  
Egyptians were the first to consider the dove a symbol of peace.  
Japanese use the dove as a symbol to the end of war and the continuing
peace.  Armed with a quiver of feathers and riding a dove Kamadeva
was the Hindu god of love.  Venus and Aphrodite kept sacred doves;
doves draw Aphrodite?s chariot.
Christianity was next to symbolize the dove with peace.  The Bible
referred to doves over 80 times in its pages.  A dove returned to Noah
carrying the famed olive branch.  In Islam a dove symbolizes the divine.  
Some Native American cultures believe that the spirit of the recently
deceased take the form of a dove.
Picasso created the symbol of the newly formed World Peace Congress
